He captained Afghanistan in 56 ODIs with an impressive winning ratio of close to 60%. Furthermore, under his stint as captain, Afghanistan won 37 out of the 46 T20Is.
A Changing His-tory
In a surprising move that left many perplexed, Afghan was removed from captaincy just months before the World Cup of 2019. While Gulbadin Naib took over as ODI captain, Rashid Khan assumed leadership for T20 Internationals. However, having faced numerous backlashes post these abrupt changes, Asghar Afghan was reinstated as the skipper until his retirement in March 2021.
