In International cricket, the phenomenon of hitting 6 sixes in a single over was first exhibited by Herschelle Gibbs from South Africa during the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Herschelle Herman Gibbs, born on February 23rd, 1974, started his career early owing to his exceptional talent. His father was also involved in sports which helped young Gibbs develop a love for games. From being involved in various sports activities at school to stepping into professional cricket as a star batsman for South Africa, his journey had only begun.
Gibbs’s excellent hand-eye coordination combined with attacking stroke-play quickly caused him to rise through the ranks. Often compared to West Indies’ opener Sir Vivian Richards due to his aggressive batting style, Gibbs was renowned as one of the few batsmen who loved taking risks with the big shots rather than rotating strikes.

The iconic moment arrived when Gibbs became part of international cricket history during the match against Netherlands at Warner Park, St Kitts and Nevis. The match took place on March 16th, 2007 amidst global attention – where he turned heads by hammering 4-36-0-2 off Dan van Bunge’s bowling.

To put it into context how phenomenal this feat was: To score 36 runs from an over requires every delivery to be skillfully hit for six – A ‘Perfect Over’.
